Skinphinity’s latest treatment is CryoPen™ cryotherapy (also known as cryosurgery). This powerful, precise treatment uses advanced freezing innovation for the fast, effective and safe removal of benign skin lesions on the face and body. One of the most advanced treatments for removing benign skin imperfections, the CryoPen™ is a non-invasive cryotherapy system designed to remove these annoying skin lesions with minimal discomfort or downtime.

What is cryotherapy and the CryoPen?

Cryotherapy harnesses the power of extreme cold to gently and safely remove unwanted skin lesions.

The CryoPen™ delivers a highly controlled jet of liquid nitrous oxide that freezes only the targeted tissue, leaving the surrounding skin untouched. This pen-like device allows our doctors to treat even the most delicate facial areas with remarkable accuracy, all without the need for scalpels, anaesthetic, or recovery time.

What skin lesions can CryoPen treat?

CryoPen™ is ideal for treating a wide range of benign skin concerns, including:

  • Skin tags

  • Age spots and sunspots

  • Cherry angiomas

  • Liver spots

  • Warts and verrucae

  • Seborrhoeic keratoses

  • Milia

  • Pigmented lesions

  • And some moles.

The treatment is suitable for both the face and body, offering precise results even in sensitive areas such as the eyelids, neck, and décolletage.

Is the CryoPen treatment safe?

Absolutely! The CryoPen™ is a clinically proven, CE-marked medical device used by practitioners worldwide. Here at Skinphinity Aesthetics in Tarporley, Cheshire, we use the premium CryoPen™ model, which is for use by medics only, and allows us to treat larger lesions than the basic model. It precisely targets only the lesion, reducing the risk of scarring or damage to healthy skin. All CryoPen™ treatments in our clinic are performed by doctors who adhere to the highest clinical standards, ensuring safety, precision, and confidence in every treatment.

What happens during a CryoPen cryotherapy treatment?

Your appointment begins with a professional skin assessment to confirm that the lesion is suitable for cryotherapy. During the treatment, Dr Kyra will apply a fine, high-pressure jet of nitrous oxide directly to the lesion for a few seconds with the CryoPen™ device. The lesion is usually treated twice in immediate succession. The freezing process destroys the unwanted cells. Most patients describe the sensation as a brief cold tingle, usually comfortable and brief enough that no anaesthetic is required. The treatment is generally over in minutes and you can return to your normal activities immediately after your appointment.

Are there any side effects to the CryoPen treatment? What is the healing process?

CryoPen™ treatment is low-risk and well-tolerated, though mild and temporary side effects can occur, such as:

  • Slight redness or swelling

  • Formation of a small blister or scab over the treated lesion

  • Temporary lightening or darkening of the skin.

These reactions are part of the skin’s natural healing process. We recommend keeping the area clean, avoiding picking, and applying daily SPF to support healing and protect your results. The unwanted skin lesion is naturally cast off by the body over the coming days and weeks, and healthy skin forms in its place.

Can I get CryoPen cryotherapy treatment free on the NHS?

In most cases, cryotherapy treatment is not available on the NHS. The NHS typically considers the removal of benign lesions (such as skin tags, sun spots and cherry angiomas) to be a cosmetic procedure unless there is a medical concern, such as recurrent bleeding, infection, or interference with vision or movement.

How much does CryoPen Cryotherapy cost and how many treatments are needed?

Here at Skinphinity in Cheshire, CryoPen™ treatments cost from £50, depending on the size and number of lesions you want removed. One or two treatments is usually enough, although more stubborn lesions, such as some warts, may require more.
