How our necks age
A typical aging ‘turkey neck’ appearance can result from a combination of a reduction in collagen and elastin, along with loss of fat and muscle which, with gravity, pulls the skin downwards. The main neck muscle, the Platysma muscle, becomes more obvious, resulting in more visible ‘platysmal bands’: the bands that can be seen running vertically up the neck.

Botox
Dr Kyra offers treatments for neck bands (platsymal muscle), which can make a huge difference to aging necks. Treatments are required that will relax the platsymal muscle, without causing any issues to the delicate surrounding structures of the neck.
In a Nerfertiti neck lift, anti-wrinkle injections (Botox) can be used in the platysmal bands to relax the platysma muscle, make the bands less obvious, and improve neck wrinkles. Injections elsewhere around the jaw can help lift the neck and jowls and give a more defined appearance.
